THE CFMA MID-ATLANTIC REGIONAL CONFERENCE HALL OF FLAME

In 2016, a special “Presidents Committee”, chaired by the prior year Conference Chair Ryan Henigan, was formed whose task was to implement CFMA Regional Awards for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference.  There are many people who work hard and are passionate about CFMA, and many thought those people deserve recognition.

First, to decide on the two awards:  It seemed obvious to have a “Founders” award and a “Leadership” award, but what should they be named?  Too often, we create “Memorial Awards” instead of honoring the people who came before us while they are here to enjoy it.  An informal survey was taken of long-time members, and two names were mentioned consistently:  David Casey and Tony R. Stagliano were two people in this region who lit the fire for CFMA and then carried the flame forward.  The two awards were then created, and criteria were formed:

The CFMA Mid-Atlantic Regional David Casey Founders Award

2016 Winner:  Joseph Patti, CCIFP

2017 Winner:  David Holmes

The CFMA Mid-Atlantic Regional Anthony R. Stagliano Leadership Award

2017 Winner:  Wendy Byerley

The CFMA Mid-Atlantic Regional Trail Blazer Award

2016 Winners:  Richard Huber, Nino Morello

2017 Winners:  Herb Brownett, Richard King, Vickie Spotts, Denita Schreier, Kevin Foley, John Bieber

  • Created to honor those who contributed to CFMA and the Mid-Atlantic Conference prior to the institution of the Founders and Leadership awards.
  • May also be used to honor those with dedication to making the Mid-Atlantic Conference the best each year.

For the first three years, it was decided that the President of each participating chapter of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference would be eligible to nominate one person per award, though their nominees could be from any participating chapter as well as from their own chapter.  Once nominations were received, the Presidents Committee would review and vote on the winners.  The winners would be honored at the Reception with an award.

In addition, it was decided there should be a “perpetual trophy” called “The CFMA Mid-Atlantic Regional Hall of Flame” where the names of the annual winners are engraved, and this can be displayed at future regional conferences.  As 2016 is the first year for the Mid-Atlantic Hall of Flame, David Casey and Tony Stagliano were honored, and each received an original “replica” of the perpetual trophy.

For the 4th year, it was decided to open the awards up so that any member in good standing from the participating Mid-Atlantic Chapters could nominate someone.  The previous winners would then, as a committee, vote for the winners.

CFMA WAS STARTED BY A GROUP OF PEOPLE WITH A PASSION.  A PASSION FOR NOT ONLY THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY, BUT FOR EDUCATING THOSE DEDICATED TO THE FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT OF THE INDUSTRY.  THE WINNERS OF THESE AWARDS KEEP THE FLAME BURNING THAT STARTED IN KENILWORTH, NJ AND PHILADELPHIA, PA, TWO FLAMES THAT CAME TOGETHER AND HELPED GROW INTO THE STAR THAT IT IS TODAY.
